SUD COUNSELOR OVERNIGHT | Registered or Certified
The Overnight SUD Counselor is required to be a Registered SUD Counselor working on his or her SUD Counseling Certification and responsible for the residents at an Adult Men’s Residential Treatment Facility. Will conduct night rounds, bed checks, random drug testing, file assistance/review, facilitate educations and recovery groups, utilizing crisis intervention skills with Motivational Interviewing and Relapse Prevention strategies. The overnight SUD counselor is to assist clients with the skills and ability to recover from substance use disorder, using a non-time bound treatment format. The overnight SUD Counselor reports to and performs counseling duties assigned by the Program Manager.
Typical responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
Facilitates education and group counseling sessions, is prepared for potential crisis prevention/intervention, collateral services, and other relevant clean/sober-related services.
Determine if there is a need for client referral to community services, laboratory services, vocational counseling, legal, medical, other programs and/or additional services, by notifying the Program Manager or designee.
Assist clients in the development of appropriate clean and sober life.
Attend In-Service training’s sessions ie: clinical meetings, staff development and CEU’s, as directed by management.
Perform drug testing urinalysis specimen collections and screening as required.
Must be a Registered SUD Counselor or be in the process of obtaining a valid Certification recognized by State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS); as well as understand the methods of SUD recovery.
Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen. Hold a valid driver’s license, preferably in California.
Available to work schedule that may include day, evening and/or weekends to best meet the needs of 24-hour residential treatment facility and its clients.
Ability to work with high risk adult men.
Ability to work with a diverse population.
Have a baseline knowledge of mental health issues, along with traumatic brain injury.
Job Type: Full-time, 40 Hours Week, Overnight with One Day Shift
Four nights 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM and One Day Shift
