Job Description

OBIC Clinic is operated through the UCSF Department of Psychiatry at San Francisco General Hospital in partnership with the San Francisco Department of Public Health. OBIC Clinic is seeking a Clinic Manager with social work background to join our growing and diverse team dedicated to equitable and person-centered care. OBIC Clinic provides evidence-based outpatient treatment for substance use disorders with particular emphasis on medications for addiction treatment. This is an exciting time to join our clinic as we grow and transform with the addition of new programs and services to support our patients needs.

We are looking for a mission-driven, team player committed to excellent, de-stigmatized patient care for patients with unhealthy substance use and with experience in supervision and management. Under the leadership and supervision of the OBIC Medical director, the OBIC Clinic Manager will play a critical role in the daily operations of the clinic and implementation of new programs.

The clinic manager will have three key aspects to their role: clinic administration, staff supervision, and patient care.

  • Clinic administration: The clinic manager will be responsible for overseeing daily clinic operations including staffing, problem solving patient care issues, and monitoring documentation. The clinic manager will have the opportunity to work with the management team to design and implement new clinical services. Our current clinical project is focused on establishing an evidence-based treatment for people with stimulant use disorders in the form of contingency management and cognitive behavioral therapy. The Clinic Manager will be essential in the development and oversight of this program with the support of the management team.
  • Supervision: The Clinic Manager will directly supervise OBIC front office and counseling staff members. This will include holding regular supervision meetings and performance reviews.
  • Patient care: The Clinic Manager will have dedicated time for patient care providing therapy and case management recognizing direct patient care is an essential piece to inform operations and management and to stay in touch with the patient population.

Patients seen at OBIC are primarily low to no income and all are uninsured or have public insurance. Many of our patients are experiencing homelessness, have multiple substance use disorders, have a history of trauma, have co-occurring psychiatric conditions or experience with the criminal-legal system. OBIC aims to provide flexible treatment to meet the diverse needs of this patient population. We seek candidates dedicated and passionate about serving our patient population.

We aim to foster an environment of inclusion and belonging for our workforce and to create a team that reflects the diversity of San Franciscans served in our clinic.
