Job Description

Skyway House is seeking to hire a trained counselor for its residential treatment program.

Applicants are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to be considered for the position.
TB test and CPR/First Aid Certification to be obtained upon hire.



This position is Full Time


Counselors are responsible to the Lead Counselor as well as the Program Director.


Must be in compliance with all DHCS certification requirements. Possess an understanding of addiction and the core counseling functions. The ability to work independently as well as on a treatment team. Ability to keep clear and legible records and charts. Have the ability to work and communicate effectively with all contract representatives and community resources. Maintain current CPR, First Aid and TB clearance.


• Follow State and Skyway House code of ethics
• Assure confidentiality and compliance with HIPPA
• Current certification and continuing education
• Do no harm to clients
• Be professional with client’s and visitors
• Assure that client has executed a written release of information for all contacts outside
• Assure client files are up to DHCS and Skyway House standards
• Determine needs of client and construction of personalized treatment plan
• Fax weekly profile for funding agencies
• Assures client exit plans and aftercare plans are appropriate
• Assures client needs and counseling sessions are executed in a timely manner
• Fax court letters a week before appearance date
• Fax all agencies when client enters or exits treatment
• Facilitate groups in a professional/healing manner
• Have group material ready before group
• Keep Director up to date with case load or issues in the house.
• Intervene when any residential client demonstrates problems
• Answer the phone in a professional manner
• Transport clients to appointments as needed
• Logs all events in log book and read and sign log book daily
• UA clients and log in three places
• Walk the floor and check rooms
• Make sure the house is presentable at all times
• Search client belongings as needed
• One-on-one counseling, treatment planning and crisis intervention
• Assist staff and program directors as needed
• Data entry and record keeping
• Consult with appropriate professional in regards to client treatment
